The colony originally claimed all the land to it’s west and Connecticut was extra long. the Western Reserve “was probably the most intensely antislavery section of the country”. John Brown Jr. called it, in 1859, “the New England of the West”.
New England? There’s an entire Pennsylvania and New York between Ohio and New England.
