Unrelated anecdote, my brother’s then wife post a picture of them on Facebook. Our aunt saw it, took a picture of her monitor with her phone, went to the store to have them print the photo out on photo paper, and then mailed it to my brother.

So he got his original photo back, but at a greatly reduced quality and with monitor glare added!

I don’t have any experience with them yet, but I was looking at a kagi search subscription and that comes with AI usage from different models. Could be an option?

Same thing happened in 2021-ish when WhatsApp changed their policy that all your information would be shared with Facebook. Outrage pushed it back six months, and then they did it anyway.

Except the dumfucks have railed against the idea of a national id number since before they removed “Not to be used for ID” from the SS cards. So instead we have a national id number that was never meant to be one and stupidly easy to figure out.

It was like that here when Reddit fell caused people to leave and look for something better. Give it time, and interact!

Yeah, there is a lot of focus on getting your site out, but I just ignore all that part. I just wanted a nice place to self-host my travels without having to think much about it and it seems to fit that bill. But yeah, there is a place to discover other feeds and to comment on other people’s posts from the Fediverse and what not.

I jumped on Meshtastic but found it got too congested with noise in a medium-sized city making it difficult to get much out there. Switched to Meshcore and have had a much better time communicating. Seattle’s full on made it equivalent to SMS, which makes me jealous. But YMMV 🤷🏼‍♂️

I just spun up my own Ghost blog, being self-hosted and interacts with the Fediverse. Plus it’s pretty without me needing to know how.
