  • I see, thank you again for the additional details! I feel like I finally understand the joke thanks to you.

I think the reference to the track in the title text threw me off the most, and I didn’t even realize that it was supposed to be a joke until reading the top comment.

Thank you for also clarifying that you weren’t speaking negatively about me if I had been intentionally obtuse. I hope the mild distastefulness of the post isn’t due to bigotry.

  • Thank you for the clarification. I suspected as much, as you can see from my later comment, but I was legitimately confused.

I’m still not sure if I understand the humor (something about the implied double meaning of “hot wheels” I’m guessing), but it’s not at all uncommon for a joke to go over my head. I’m also not sure what is in any way distasteful about the post, and I hope I haven’t contributed to any distastefulness.

I’m on the spectrum so I’m used to misunderstanding things that are obvious to other people. I apologize if I came across as being intentionally obtuse to you, OP, or anyone else.

  • I don’t think those plastic tracks could support the weight of a human adult even if they were large enough for the wheelchairs. Especially not at the force they’d have to endure to reach sufficient looping speed and the looping itself. That’s to say nothing about the risk to the person in the wheelchair.

Is that the joke? The absurdity of the scenario?

I’m also not entirely clear how wheelchairs = hot wheels implicitly. Are you commenting on the appearance of the women in the wheelchairs, is it something to do with the wheelchairs themselves, or is it just the association that they both have wheels? Maybe something else entirely?

Apologies for my struggling to fully understand. I appreciate your clarifications.

I’m not sure how to interpret this since I don’t wear glasses. I can’t tell if your response was intended as a compliment, insult, joke, or something else entirely.

Full disclosure, I’m on the spectrum so there is likely something that is going over my head. I can only hope that your comment was given with positive intentions and was intended to evoke positive feelings in the reader.

My understanding is that the Dr. was referring to her glasses prescription, but the numbers he provided were misinterpreted as some sort of rating on her appearance (or perhaps basketball performance).

He didn’t intend to cause that confusion, which is why he acknowledged that his choice of wording was not ideal. I hope that clears things up.

I’ve used it on both macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and iOS.

On macOS it’s been fine, but nothing about it was unique or beneficial enough to make me switch to it as my default browser. I imagine the experience on Linux will be similar.

On iOS, I’ve been daily driving it for almost exactly a year. At first it was very buggy, and I once lost all of my opened tabs. But for the past 6-8 months it has been very solid, and is the only browser on iOS that allows me to use both ad and sponsor block plug-ins to my knowledge. Tab groups are also fantastic and easy to manage.

I absolutely agree! But as I said in my initial response, I personally would think of that as more of a flattering compliment than anything else. I don’t understand why the dad found the similarities so overwhelmingly funny that he was on the floor laughing, struggling to breathe, with tears in his eyes.

Apparently OP understood the context as a “sick burn,” and I’m assuming the dad was laughing for some sort of similar mean spirited reason. I just feel like I’m out of the loop and I’m not understanding why the comparison is funny or any kind of burn.

I appreciate you trying to help me understand, but I’m sorry to say that I still don’t get it. Are large eyeglasses inherently funny for some reason?

Full disclosure I’m on the autistic spectrum, so I’m sure there is something obvious that I’m missing. In my mind large eyeglasses make a lot of sense because they cover a fuller degree of the field of view for the wearer.
