“Tuna fish” is a phase used primarily for canned tuna, but not for the live fish or things like tuna steak. It’s because when canned tuna was created in the US in the early 1900’s people who were not right next to the sea (like the majority of the US) did not know what “tuna” was. Firstly, the word is a of Spanish origin and secondly, its a salt water only fish. So in order to sell this to middle America, which was where most of the consumers were at the time but was also made up of people who have never seen the ocean, they added the word “fish” to show like other tinned fish that was commonly purchased: codfish, bluefish, and whitefish, this is also a fish and that is what you can expect when you open this can.

Technology@lemmy.world•Mozilla’s new CEO is doubling down on an AI future for FirefoxEnglish
44·5 months agoEnzor-DeMeo says will offer users their choice of model and product, all in a browser they can understand and from a company they can trust. “We’re not incentivized to push one model or the other,” he says. “So we’re going to try to go to market with multiple models.”
As long as it doesn’t become something that is forcibly pushed in to everything I do with the browser and my actions on the browser aren’t available to the LLM they go with, which it sounds like it won’t be, I don’t care if an AI agent exists in the software I use. Though I do feel like the working hours for this could be used in a better way, I’d love to see PWA’s come to Firefox for Linux, as an example.

5·6 months agoHonestly would love something like this for lemmy. On old reddit I had a enhancement suite script that tagged know bad actors so I could filter them out/add grains of salt. But instead of like on Bluesky where you subscribe to a list managed by someone else, I’d like a local filter that I can apply and won’t update until I update it.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Can’t pay, won’t pay: impoverished streaming services are driving viewers back to piracyEnglish
2·9 months agoHi, yes its me, I am a won’t pay-er. Canceled Netflix the 2nd time in a year they jacked rates. Canceled Spotify the 2nd time in a year that they jacked rates. Canceling Hulu and D+ at the end of this month. I used to torrent everything before Netflix and when Hulu was free, started paying because it was cheap and easy to see all the shows I wanted. Now streaming is just as bad and cable plans used to be so I am setting up my new seedbox now and its cheaper to pay for the premium seedbox + stream from Jellyfin and I can get back to seeing all my shows that fractured off in to streaming services I didn’t pay for.
Honestly I am impressed at how far seedbox services have come, they are almost totally plug and play, very little configurations needed
